Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Board of the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, as well as the Organising and Scientific Committees of the Symposium, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you who participated in the Annual Symposium held in the vibrant city of Porto, under the inspiring theme "Exploring New Horizons."

This year’s symposium was an exceptional gathering, bringing together a diverse array of professionals dedicated to advancing our understanding of inborn errors ofmetabolism (IEM), learning from one another, and contributing to our collective mission of improving the lives of those affected by IEM.

We are particularly thankful to our esteemed speakers, moderators, reviewers, and presenters of scientific abstracts. Your active engagement and the high quality of your contributions were invaluable, enriching our discussions and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. We also commend ALL ATTENDEES — researchers, clinicians, nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists, and passionate advocates— for your enthusiasm in submitting abstracts and actively participating in the scientific sessions. Your insights and discussions on critical topics have played a crucial role in promoting knowledge exchange and enhancing our collective understanding of IEM.

Porto, known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and local cuisine, provided a beautiful backdrop for our symposium. The charming streets, the stunning Douro River, and the famous vineyards added a special touch to our gathering, making it a truly memorable experience. As we conclude this edition of the Symposium, marked by scientific rigor, engaging dialogues, and memorable moments—including the special session honoring 60 years of the SSIEM—we reflect on the success of our gathering. It was inspiring to see the passion and dedication from all participants, which truly exemplifies the spirit of our community.

Together, let us embark on a journey of exploration, collaboration, and innovation as we discover new horizons in the fascinating world of metabolism. We are already excited about the prospects of the ICIEM 2025 in Kyoto and SSIEM Annual Symposium in 2026 in Helsinki, where we aim to build upon the success of this year and continue our important work together.

See you all soon = Vemo-nos brevemente
